Rat Damage Electrical Issue Shah Alam

The customer’s house is located in Shah Alam and was facing serious electrical problems. One of the main issues was wiring damage caused by rats, which is quite common in residential homes, especially in areas where cables are installed in ceilings, roof spaces, and hidden trunking. Over time, rats can chew through insulation and expose live wires, creating serious safety risks. This type of damage can lead to power trips, short circuits, flickering lights, and certain parts of the house losing electricity from time to time. In some cases, it can also cause overheating or burning smell if the damaged wire is not detected early. The customer also mentioned there were other electrical issues happening in the house, so a proper inspection was needed to find the real cause instead of just guessing. A full check of the wiring system was required to ensure the safety and stability of the whole house electrical supply.

Basic Test Pen Diagnosis Issue By Other Wireman

Before this, the customer already called another wireman about two weeks earlier. However, the problem was not fully solved and later came back again. Based on what the customer shared, the previous wireman only used a test pen to check whether the socket had power. There was no proper testing done using a multimeter to check neutral condition, voltage, or current flow. Because of this, deeper problems such as loose neutral wiring or hidden cable damage were not detected, which likely caused the issue to return.

Our team went to the site in Shah Alam to carry out a full check on the double-storey house. We tested the wiring system properly and checked the affected circuits to trace where the fault was coming from. We also inspected possible rat-damaged wiring areas, especially hidden cables in ceiling and wall sections. The distribution board was checked as well to make sure all MCB and RCCB were working properly and there were no signs of leakage or unstable connection. This type of detailed checking is important because electrical problems are not always visible from the surface.

The inspection and troubleshooting service for this house was charged at RM550. The case shows how important it is to do proper electrical testing with the right tools and experience. A small issue like damaged wiring or weak neutral connection can turn into a bigger problem if not identified correctly. Proper inspection helps to make sure the electrical system is safe, stable, and won’t keep repeating the same fault.

Whole House Trips When Autogate Remote Is Pressed

Another major issue they are facing is the autogate system tripping whenever the remote control is pressed. Because of this, the autogate has been unusable for the past few days. The customer is currently forced to get out of the car every time just to manually open and close the gate, which is very inconvenient and time-consuming. This situation becomes even more worrying at night, as the wife usually finishes work around 10pm and only reaches home around 10:30pm. Having to get out of the car in a dark and quiet environment is not only troublesome but also raises safety concerns. The autogate system failure has affected both daily comfort and home security, so it needs to be sorted out properly as soon as possible.

The previous wireman mentioned that the autogate cable might have an issue, saying the neutral wire and earth wire could be touching due to damaged cable insulation. He also said the outer cable skin was already broken, which could lead to short circuit or leakage in the system. However, no proper testing was carried out on site to confirm the actual fault, so the real cause was still not clear. Because of this, the customer now wants a proper insulation (megger) test to check the condition of the cables and make sure there are no leakage or insulation breakdown issues before further repair work is done.

After understanding the full situation, we advised the customer that proper testing is very important before any repair work is done. Since the issue involves both the autogate system and possible wiring damage, we recommended doing a full insulation (megger) test to check the cable condition properly. This helps to confirm whether there is any leakage, short circuit, or insulation breakdown in the system. Once the real fault is identified, only then can the correct repair solution be carried out. This approach ensures the problem is fixed properly and avoids the same issue from coming back again.
