Solar Light Installation

With the ongoing rise in energy bills, more and more people are seeking cost-effective solutions. That’s why solar lights are becoming increasingly popular. Offering peace of mind with their automatic on/off function and self-recharging battery, solar lights provide a hassle-free lighting solution. If you are traveling overseas with no one at home and your house is very dark, these solar lights will automatically turn on in the evening and off in the morning. Let me provide you with some examples: if you are a woman staying alone and work in a shopping mall that closes at 10pm, you might reach home around 11pm to a very dark environment. Can you imagine arriving home without lights surrounding your house? If you are living in a remote area (a kampung house) without fencing and with a large compound, where the cost of laying cables and installing lights is prohibitively high, and your house frequently faces intruders or wild animals, these solar lights will make your house very bright. This can make potential intruders think twice before committing a crime.

I always imagine living in a kampung house with a large compound that can park many cars. I would install two solar lights at the front to cover the fencing area, one at the left front facing the back and one at the left back facing the front. Same goes for the right side – one at the right front facing the back and one at the right back facing the front. At the back, I’d also place one on the left and one on the right, so they cover each other. Since solar lights run on batteries that charge using sunlight, you need to install the solar panel where it gets at least 8 hours of hot sun every day. Otherwise, the lights will be really dim and not bright enough.

Our Solar Light Recommendation

There are many different price ranges for solar lights, from around a hundred to several thousand. Those cheaper models won’t last long. They use low-quality LEDs and recycled batteries, which can pose fire hazards. Those online sellers compete in price wars by selling super low-quality products. As a result, you’ll end up with an inferior product. So these solar lights are very low quality; when you touch them, you can feel how fragile they are. Actually, it depends on how much you’re willing to pay for it. We suggest choosing a solar light in the RM300 to RM700 range for a better solar panel, better LED, and better battery. With RM700 model, you can get a reliable solar light that can last until 6:30 AM.

Solar Light Versus AC230V Light

You cannot directly compare the brightness of solar lights with wired AC230V lights because solar lights are powered by batteries and are typically not as strong as AC-powered lights. For example, if you currently have two units of 4-foot fluorescent lights operating on AC230V at your factory, you may need to install 4 units of solar lights to achieve the same level of brightness. Solar lights can weaken after a few hours of operation as their battery level decreases. The controller inside the solar lights calculates how much power to use and estimates how many hours the battery can last. You might notice they advertise 1000W, 1500W, or even 2000W, but don’t be misled by these fake specifications. If each LED in a solar light is only 0.3W, and the light has 300 LEDs, that totals to 90W. It’s misleading to claim the light is 1000W based on this calculation. Don’t be misled by fake specifications.

Is It Worth To Install Solar Light

Actually, for solar lights used in homes, they don’t always save much money because the initial costs are high and they have a limited lifespan. Before reaching the cost break-even point, your solar light may already spoil. On the other hand, the cost of wiring for normal wired lights is not expensive, and even wired AC230V lights are not costly either. But if you are a commercial factory or farm, the wiring cost for wired AC230V lights can be high, sometimes costing up to a few thousand ringgit just for the wiring. In such cases, installing solar lights might be a better option. Another strong point is that the solar lights will automatically turn on at night and off at dawn. No matter if you work at night or in the morning, the lights will turn on automatically, so you won’t have to worry about them. And if you go outstation, the lights will still turn on, potentially giving intruders the impression that someone is home.

Online Sellers Hide Solar Light Usage Tips

Many online sellers just sell solar lights without sharing the secret to optimal usage. They only want you to buy their solar lights. We have received many phone enquiries reporting that their solar lights only last until midnight or 1 AM. Please keep in mind that the solar panel must be placed where it is directly exposed to the sun. Installing it in shaded areas will prevent the solar lights from storing enough energy to power up at night. It’s important to ensure optimal sunlight exposure for efficient operation of your solar lights. If you’re considering installing solar lights, please take some photos of the areas where you’d like them installed and send them to us via WhatsApp. We’ll be happy to assist you further with your solar light installation needs!
